Children of all ages are an important part of the Oakwood church family. We provide many opportunities for children to worship, learn and grow at Oakwood. All Oakwood children’s workers are carefully selected and have undergone thorough background checks to comply with PA child protection laws and Oakwood policies.
Children are always welcome during worship services, although we also provide alternative options for small children during the worship service:
- Nursery – Babies and toddlers up to age 3 during both services and during the Sunday School hour.
- Children’s Bible Time – 3 year olds through 1st grade during both services.
Communion
We ask that children not participate in Communion until they are old enough to understand what it means and make a profession of faith in Christ for themselves (1 Corinthians 11:28-29). There is not a formal age limit, but special communicant classes for 7th and 8th graders are offered in alternating years to instruct and prepare children. If you would like your child to partake of communion and your child is ready to make a profession of faith, please contact Pastor Dan.
Sunday School
Sunday School classes for children ages 3 years (by September 1) through high school are offered during the school year. The nursery is open and staffed for children birth through age 3.
